World Quilt Festival

Went to the world quilt festival this weekend and enjoyed every minute. It was nice to see  friends we've met in quilt shops, in classes and on retreats. It was like old home day. Our favorite shops were vending and we shopped till we dropped.  We paced ourselves and spent the whole day there.  I must admit, quilts at the world quilt festival are not quite my taste. They come from all over the world and some are quite artsy.  I lean toward traditional.  We had so much fun shopping, it was a mall for quilters. Is it just me or do you spend allot of money only to  get home and say "is this all I got?"  I picked up some great fabric for another wedding quilt, baby quilts and some wool for my wool projects, and also some great gadgets.
These were a couple of my favorites at the show.

How many pieces do you think are in this little guy? Many many many!
I am really warming up to batiks, who am I?
This was Gorgeous!
For some reason I absolutely LOVED this quilt, Its looking through the bottom of a train and seeing the terrain on the other side.  I thought it was unique.
This was another amazing quilt. Tiny, tiny pieces create a beautiful picture, such talent.  If you attend quilts shows, you know you can't appreciated this unless seen in person.

Quilt from Scraps

I made a quilt for my neices wedding and  had  enough fabric left over to made a lap quilt for myself. I did the best with what I had left over.  No pattern.  Fabric is French General by Moda.  I quilted it on my sewing machine, not an easy task, but I am getting better at it.

Getting ready for the Lowell Quilt Festival and the World Quilt Festival.  Havent been to a show in a while.  Remember this is the year I am using up  my stash and making quilts out of all the tops I have accumulated.  It might take another year.  But I must say im happy with my progress.  I don't have much self control when it comes to buying things I "must have".  The family is expecting a new baby early next year so I have an excuse to find the perfect fabrics for baby quilts.
