Happy New Year 2015

This year I'm getting caught up on quilts I have been wanting to make for my self for some time.  A quilter once told me you spend the first 10 years making quilt's for everyone else.  Well..  I have found that to be true.  So now its mine turn, this is the first one this year I have started.  Its a house block of the month.  I started it with 5 other people, we agreed to have the top done by our next retreat in November.  I am making a Christmas quilt.

I'd like to make some new Christmas quilts for the house this year, I will start with this one.

I made this quilt for a friend. It's the largest one I've made, not so easy to square up when its so large, luckily it quilted up fine, so it was square enough.

This was a Christmas gift to people who sail out of Rockport, MA  I didn't have a pattern and the angles were tricky, but It came out ok.

I accidently deleted my 2014 posts.  Ooops!

New Projects

I'm getting back into the swing of projects.  I made a rush quilt for someone to send to France for a special 90th birthday.   I made a quilt for my kitty. I went to the world quilt show and went on a 12 hr quilting jam Saturday.  I'm getting excited to pick up momentum.
This was the quilt that went to France.  just a lap, didn't have much time to make it any bigger.
I made this quilt for my kitty, I thought if he had his own, he wouldn't be laying on what I was trying to work on.
He likes it, but it doesn't work
How can I push this little guy on my cutting mat.

My latest wool project, getting ready for fall
Finally put the sashing on my quilt.  Now to get it quilted
This was fun fast and easy to put together, its never to soon to get ready for Christmas.

Handsome Little Man

Mr Fozzie is turning into quite the handsome young man.  We are having so much fun with him.  My house looks like a kitty daycare.  I have never had a cat who enjoys every toy he has, who loves to play hide and go seek and puts his two front paws up on my knees when he wants to be picked up. he makes us laugh with this clumsiness and he can be a little naughty, but his naughty is funny and somehow I don't mind him going places he shouldn't.   I know I should be talking quilting but he hasn't worn off on me yet.  Each day I can't wait to go home. Hes one lucky kitty.  The whole family is on board with this kitty.  Hes the apple of our eye.  I really don't think the new future king of England as anything on my little prince.

I was away at Disney with my sister recently and now that I am back home I'm trying to get back into the swing.  This weather is so hot, I realized I really do hate the summer even thought I am always in air conditioning.   I will take the rest of the four seasons. If I don't start quilting soon  I will have to change my blog to Mr Fozzies Big Adventures.  LOL.  but I haven't been that bad, I have gone on 12 hour quilting jams.  I love them I get so much done.  Another one coming up in August.

I made this one for the person we stayed with in Florida, it's bright and cheerful.  Its called Ruby by Moda.  She loved it!! I didn't get a picture of it finished. ugh!

Block of the month

How many projects do you have unfinished?   I started this one last year, which isn't bad I guess.  I do have much older ones.  This is a star block of the month. I am working on a basket block of the month now so I really should get this done.  I laid  it out on the floor and take a picture of it, it gives me a good idea what its going to look like before I add the sashing.
My little apprentice, kitty approved
The quilt pictured on the bottom of my quilt ladder is next on my list to get quilted.  Its time, this one is about 3 years unfinished.
I see birds, can I go outside?

Mr Fozzies First Quilt

So that's how it all comes together... huh.....

Kitty proved to be good company and  quite helpful, took us a couple days to make.
Now the quilt is ready to be quilted.

Quilters Assistant

Mr Fozzie has joined me in my quilting room and seems to have some advice on how to quilt.
When you square up don't forget this blue part is an extra quarter inch, do you see the blue line?
You cant imagine what the quilt is going to look like with your squares scattered everywhere like this.  Are you sure you know what your doing?
Yeah this is better having them lined up like you'd like to see them,  Yawn... I'm sleepy.
This quilting stuff is a lot of work, I think I will take a little nap and let you finish.
I think I like quilting.

Happy Easter

I have been patiently waiting for the right kitten to come along and I found him. This is Fozzie.  Our new little baby boy kitten.  Anyone that has ever had a kitten knows how fun and adorable they can be.  He sleeps allot, but when hes awake he's full of wonder, scampering around the house looking for mischief.  Hes a brave little kitten.  I put him on the top of the stairs to see if he could climb up two of them.  He turned around and jumped down two and tumbled down the rest.  Getting to the bottom jumped up in little boy fashion and wanted to do it again.  He took the fall much better than I did.   Soon he will be my quilting assistant getting into mischief in my sewing things. I look forward to it.

Easter is the first to welcome spring. Today the crocuses emerged and basked in the warm spring sun.
The weather is starting to get warm, I cant wait to get outside and start sprucing up the yard, finish painting the house and open the garden shed.  I always find it difficult to go work in the spring. there is so much to do to, now that I have a new little toy its even harder.  :(

Little Fox Quilt

Purchased this fabric a A Quilters Gathering this past fall in Manchester, NH. I loved it. Its bright, colorful and the giraffes are adorable. This is for my niece and her new baby boy Fox. I top quilted it with glow in the dark thread.  When the lights go out you know exactly where the quilt its.  Its bright and I'm impressed at how well it glows.

A close up of the giraffes, the fabric is by Micheal Miller.
I gave the back a little strip of polka dots.

Bunny Wool

I am hoping to get back into quilting and other fun projects.  I havent done anything since christmas, where has the time gone.  Im always a holiday behind.  I made this in plenty of time for Easter.

Birds Birds Birds

One thing I enjoy on the weekends is watching the birds at my bird feeders. If you feed birds you know how much they eat.  It can get costly, but the rewards out weigh the cost.  These were today's visitors.  Its snowing today so the pictures are hazy.
This is the hairy woodpecker.  Loves suet and occasionally I find him pecking at the siding of my house. (not a good sound)
Here are Eastern Blue Birds, they also love the suet.
One bird I really enjoy is the Cardinal, I have males and females, I have 5 to 6 daily.  They are always in the yard somewhere. They love sunflower seeds.
I wanted to remove this lilac tree from my yard because the winter storms have destroyed most of it, but the cardinals love it so I'm torn about removing it. Birds love thicket.

Blizzard 2013

They said the landscape would look different when we woke up this morning  after the Blizzard went all night, and it sure did.  Can you tell the make and model of my car?
Snow is up to the window

My first impression of the Blizzard is waking up to not being able to look out my bedroom window.

Luckily we didn't lose power, now I hear there is a Valentines storm approaching.
Yikes! I noticed the time stamp on my camera is a day off. Must get that fixed.
